Saturday all stars

In a sea of black shirts (there was a photography event happening, and photographers always wear black shirts (even when they don’t need to) no matter how hot. I still don’t get it.) and short people, their bright colored clothes and, as this picture shows, height, made them stand out. It’s Allison Harvard and Dominique Reighard of America’s Next Top Model! Alison was from Cycle 12, and Dominique Cycle 10, then both returned for the All Stars season. They were so sweet and kind when people asked for photos with them. Alison was just like what I saw in ANTM, she seemed so meek and dainty! And Dominique’s beauty was just striking. I wish I had her color! They’re both here for the Bench Philippine Fashion Week (PFW) runway show. And I think they had a shoot for their Bench campaigns which I am excited to see.

And that night, I got to see two more stars…Mario Mauer was just charming, such a cutie! I still feel kilig when I remember his movie A Crazy Thing Called Love (read about it here). When I saw him, I couldn’t help but smile. If I’m not mistaken, Mario was the second international endorser for the brand, right after Ed Westwick. The followed by Zac Efron (rumored to visit the country soon! EEP!) and Ian Somerhalder.

And to complete the Penshoppe All Star campaign, they added Leighton! Oh.my.god. Leighton’s super pretty! And fresh! Actually, scratch off pretty. Elaine was right, she’s gorgeous!!!! And she looked like such a darling. (And I love the shoes!)

Who knew that all these current stars would fly here to endorse something local?! Never in a million years would I imagine. Akala ko hanggang Jerry Yan and other asian stars lang ang kaya, but no. Just this week, Joe Jonas and Ian Somerhalder were here! (Elaine was lucky enough to meet Ian!!!!)

Thank you Elaine for letting me tag along. It’s always fun to hang out with you and Russ :)

Brain food

Went to The Mind Museum in Taguig with my cousins (related post here) the other day. I honestly did not know what to expect. I’ve heard about it, but no details we’re never mentioned. But I guess its good to go to a new place with no expectations.

It reminded me of my New York’s Museum of Natural History (my favorite!), they had different sections: Universe, Life and another one I can’t remember. Oops. My favorite was Universe because I’ve always been fascinated with stars and planets (I really thought that I could be an astronaut when I was young). Plus they had this super duper mini planetarium, too! Then in the Life section, you get to find out about atoms, plants, the earth. The third section is more modern, there are games, art, language, literature and music.

It’s pretty cool since you get to learn new things, or revisit the things you learned in grade and high school. And it’s interactive! You can touch most of the stuf on display! And it’s a known fact that kids learn more when they experience things.

Try to visit The Mind Museum. It’s Php450 for students & teachers, and Php600 for adults. You can buy tickets via their website (here) or on the day itself.

Feeling old

Spent an entire afternoon at the Mind Museum with my cousins last Wednesday.

It felt kinda weird hanging out with them in Manila.

You see, we are divided into two groups, those of us who live here and those who live in Bacolod. But now, my cousins from Bacolod are invading Manila since they’re going to college. College! They used to run around in their briefs, sometimes annoy me (and sometimes they still do), and watch cartoons all day (I believe they still do this sometimes, too). But now they’re off having their own adventures, and catching up to the jet-setter title my Papa gave me. (Haha!)

Now we get to hang out and talk about the movies, books, music and life.

Those are my cousins. (from left to right) Sarina (the one in gray), taking up Occupational Therapy (I think) in UST; Lienne, our youngest; Noel, incoming frosh is DLSU (Animo!); Victoria, my foster cousin from Belgium; Isabel (the one in brown shirt), my smal but can-kick-your-ass cousin—she’s a ballerina and is really, really good in badminton!; Mariel, also studies in UST, taking up Speech Pathology; Nana (the one in blue), my 12 year old cousin who’s already as tall as me!; and Joaquin who just came back from his exchange program in Brazil and is an incoming freshman in UST’s Advertising Arts.

We are missing 3 cousins though, two of them in Bacolod and one is still enjoying her exchange program in Brazil. We really wished they we’re there with us though.

I won’t get to hang out as much as I would like to since we all have lives to live, but I think I might plan a little something like this every now and then just to keep us together and make the ‘bond’ stronger. Or at least start and make that bond with them.

Oh and about the Mind Museum! It was really nice. It reminded me of the Museum of Natural History—my favorite!—in New York. They had stuff about the earth, sounds, and my favorite part, the Universe (pictured above, the one with the sparkly lights). They even have a small planetarium and movies one could watch. Buuuut I’ll blog about that some other time.

For now, happy weekend you guys!
