Serendipity

“The art of finding the unusual or the pleasantly unexpected by chance or sagacity.”

Serendipity was aired on Velvet again last night. The movie left me wondering (again) when that moment will happen for me. The moment when I meet someone where the word forever actually means forever. Wishing, hoping and praying.

But, this post isn’t only about my emotera self! The movie also reminded me of the days I spent in NYC, my favorite city in the world. (Not that I’ve been to many!) I searched for that skating rink twice, and I planned to eat in the actual Serendipity restaurant the three times I flew to NYC. I was successful on my third trip. Third time’s a charm nga!

It was our (Pia and I) fourth day in the city, and Serendipity was our very first sit-down meal! We were there by 1030-11ish in the morning. If you go, I recommend you do the same, unless you make a reservation beforehand. (The line can be long since it is a famous restaurant)

We had a very ma-PR gay waiter (sheek, good-looking, fabulous—pwedeng pang-Fab Five!— and friendly), he asked us if we wanted to try their milkshakes, na-pressure naman kami kasi nga ang friendly niya, so nag order kami. One each. We we’re thinking that it’s the size of the usual milk shakes (I was thinking Mc Donald’s large coke cup size), but boy were we wrong. It was huge! The circumference is almost the size of my face (see photo below)! If I had a small face I would’ve drowned in this chocolate-y heaven. (Which is actually not a bad way to die…)

For our main meal we ordered Cheese Ravioli and Hot Spring Wings. Surprisingly, the two complemented each other. Their Hot Spring Wings (Buffalo wings) had the right amount of spice in it, and for an appetizer its a lot. I loved the sauce of the Cheese Ravioli. I was super busog by the end of our meal! May leftovers pa kami.

And before heading out, we window shopped in their store. They were selling all these other stuff — bags, stuff for the kitchen, accessories, even books! But Pia and I just got shirts (which was also the waiter’s uniforms). Mine said: Peace, Love, Serendipity :)

Here’s my picture-outside-the-famous-tourist-spot. Turistang-turista ang dating!

The place had wi-fi so we took this we-are-now-here-at-this-place photo for my Facebook mobile upload. (a.k.a “Look where we are, we are doing something awesome/weird/cool!” vanity photo)

I think I ordered Frrrozen Mochaccino, it was deliciously superb!

Best (and worst) of April 2010

Wearing Korea’s national costume.
P and I had a 5hr stopover in Incheon, Korea international airport. We drooled over the items in stores all over the place.  The nice thing about the place was that they were promoting their culture through stores souvenir items and even chocolates wrapped with Koreanovela characters/shows, they have cultural shows and even have cultural activities like letting you wear their national costume

The transportation system.
No traffic (at least when we were out). Scheduled. Proper stops. ‘Nuf said.

Arts and culture, museums.
Masakit sa bulsa but it’s a nice thing to go to every now and then.

Broadway.
Sometimes you need something different to inspire you. It’s a hit or miss thing.

Weddings
Congrats to Tom and Ivy.
Memorable quote: “All because two people fell in love.” Awwwwwww…..

Dancing
Some have right and left feet. Some have left and left feet.
(Not describing anyone in the photo, fyi)

The semi-beach experience
Its my second time to wear a thick jacket while on the beach. The weird thing about this part of Kelly’s Island is that instead of sand, the beach has shells. I guess you don’t get to walk around this beach barefoot.

Blooming flowers
Figuratively or literally? Haha!

The view
C’mon, need I say more?

Sushi
Hmmm.. Ok, I’m willing to try that.

Chocolates.
Mmmmmmmmm.

A walk in the park.

Kung ano ang worst, hulaan niyo nalang!

Things to do

March is almost over. Days are going by so fast. Too fast for all the things that I have to do before I leave. Here are a few:

1) Finish a report due on Saturday… Yikes!
2) Must finish another issue before Holy Week. Issue must be printer-ready before I leave. Ayayay.
3) Pack for the family trip this March.
4) Finish 3 presentations, a book report and a portfolio for school.
5) Buy tickets for July’s trip. (Anybody want to join me and my friend?)
6) Gown fitting.
7) Pack and plan for THE trip.

Oh, I’m sooo excited to do the last item. All the books are out, exchanged pesosesoses to dollars (sakit sa bulsa!), strutted around my bedroom using the coat I bought last year (I just knew it would come in handy!), and I started to reminisce Spring ’08. Here are some the pictures from my last trip –

(You can click the photo to make it bigger)

I so want to start packing, but I have a lot of work and school obligations to do that I sometimes end up staring blankly into space cos I don’t know what to do first. Natatameme nalang ako. (Please remind me again why I went back to school. Right now it’s one big hadlang sa life! I have to submit all requirements the day before I leave! Stressssss.) So even my packing will be one big cram-fest.

But, with the temperature rising every day, I am determined to finish everything, hop on that plane and go wear my coats. Spring 2010, wait for me!

i heart new york.

It’s been a year, but it seems like yesterday.

Oh New York, I will never get tired of you. I just love everything about you. Penn Station during rush hour. The subway. The bus. How you can watch TV on some cabs. Surprise parks in between the towering buildings. A variety of architectural designs both old and new. The blinding lights of Times Square. How the Apple store in 5th Avenue is open 24hrs—not that I made use of that information, but it’s still pretty cool. People watching everywhere. Tulips blooming on the sidewalks and the park on spring. SoHo. The availability of chocolates on every other corner. Museum of this and that (which I have to go  to/revisit). Walking around the city. You make walking so much fun.

I fell in love with you the first time. And I fell in love with you more the second time. Sometimes I feel like I left a part of my heart with you. I hope to see you again soon.
